Our studio and outdoor portrait sessions often are filled with good times and great music. I've curated over the years a playlist in Spotify and I wanted to share it with you folks. I update this religiously. Enjoy!
Hello folks, it's been a while. The bright sunlight coming through my blinds is an indicator it's safe to get out there and shoot. My mission today was to be "minimalist". I'm always carrying a bag full of gear as if all shoots were a wedding. I decided I was not going to bring any strobes and a bunch of gear. So what did I opt to bring you ask? A Nikon D750 and D810 with my Sigma Trinity of Art Series Lenses (20mm 1.4, 35mm 1.4, and 85mm 1.4).
At first Natalia and I were going to shoot at this old factory that was abandoned, or at least I thought. When I went to scout the place it was heavily guarded which made no sense. Well, when I am all fresh out of ideas, where do I shoot? The beautiful botanical gardens at Skyland Manor in Ringwood.
While I'm not fan of the New England Patriots I just wanted to congratulate them on the win. I took this image of the NYC Skyline as I knew the Empire State Building would change their colors of the victor and they did such a beautiful job.
Here's a montage of Dmitriy & Yesenia Escobar-Mogilyanskiy's wedding day.
I was fortunate to shoot a wedding at Dyker Beach Golf Course with this lovely couple. The Groomsmen got ready at The Standard Hotel in New York City which is a personal favorite of mine. The groomsmen were coolest bunch spend time with and take photographs. It's hard to believe this is what I call work.
I was fortunate to convince the owner of the Blind Pig in NYC to let us shoot our couple. These huge Arsenal fans had the bright idea of getting matching jerseys to do the Save the Date invitations.
Our studio is always trying to be innovative when it comes to your wedding. Some DJs take snap shots on your wedding and throw plain old slideshows during your wedding. Here is an example of a same day slide show we do here at DelensMode Photography. We actually edit and retouch images and make this beautiful slide show that has blown dozens of bride and grooms away. This is included in all wedding packages. Our mission is to give you that $10,000 wedding at a budget price.
I'm not sure who wins here. The folks who book with me and get a free engagement session or our studio. Sometimes our clients let us run with our crazy ideas. I liked what the couple was wearing so I opted for a movie post type of shot. We initially wanted a the bridge behind us at DUMBO in Brooklyn. It was high noon and the sun was terrible so we went to a side street. The rest is history.
By now it's no secret every full service wedding package comes with a free engagement shoot. Veronica & Matt happened to pick the best day of December for their shoot. It felt like Spring out. Matt had proposed at Frank Sinatra Park in Hoboken so they wanted to shoot there. We also shot in the alley where we got a lot of really cool shots. What's not to love about this couple. We had an amazing time and I'm really looking forward shooting their wedding in 2016.
Baila came in today for her first studio head shot. The results were amazing. Our make up artist Shirley Jay did a fantastic job.
Today we went to Celery Farm in Allendale, New Jersey for a Joanny's Fall Session. This park is one of my favorite places to shoot. Joanny was full of great posing ideas, she was a natural. I used my Indra 500 Strobe Light with a Softbox to light her so I can combine it with ambient light. The results were phenomenal.
I was fortunate enough to be flown to Boulder, Colorado for this beautiful outdoor wedding. They flew us out a day early to catch the groomsmen at the Go-Kart Racetrack which was awesome. The high elevation was a bit of a problem for me but I managed the best that I could. None the less it was one of the best moments I've ever had. Very humbling experience. The temperature is dropping and wedding season has come to an end. Portrait season is among us. We run many promotions and sometimes we include a hairstylist and a make up artist that we love. Last week's promotion was all about the corporate headshot. This is perfect for LinkedIn
This week I was contacted by Nikon that they wanted to use one of my images for their social media and print. Needless to say I was very humbled. My City Skyline images are very popular on the 'internets'. This particular images was for Nikon to demonstrate the proper way to do a long exposure. You can see the link here.
Yet another couple cashed in on their free engagement session. They picked DUMBO in Brooklyn. The sun was bright, it was cold, and there were dozens of tourists. Still I managed to get some fantastic shots. The bride and groom to be had 4 outfits and we too full advantage of each. Here are some of the photos. I can only imagine how great this wedding will be for 2016.
Once again I shot alongside Jonathan Breton at this wonderful wedding. The venue was in Haledon, New Jersey. We were supposed to get hit with a big hurricane but these newlyweds Lucked out.
Once they booked with me they jumped on the free engagement shoot with out hesitation. They picked Long Branch in New Jersey where he proposed. She was very shy at first. I told her not to worry. I asked the couple to be very organic and I'll just capture their moments. It ended up being one of my favorite shoots ever. I can't wait for their wedding in 2016.
I often work with this beautiful model for all sorts of concepts. Today we worked with a local bridal boutique to try on this dress. I had an amazing team of hairstylists, make up artists, and a wonderful assistant. I will later introduce these folks in a later blog post.
Here's a studio session I did with Melissa. Her third time in the studio. She brought her grandmother along this time so I put her in front of the big strobes. Not so fast grandma, you are not escaping without your picture being taken.
I shot this wedding alongside Jonathan Breton. This was one of those weddings where everything was perfect. It was a beautiful sunny day, the venue was great for pictures, and the Bride & Groom were just amazing folks. We left when the Dj was packing their gear.
