Valley Regency | Michelle & Mario Wedding with Fuji X-T3

The valley Regency in Clifton, New Jersey was such a nice place to shoot a wedding. It was our first time there. It has an endless opportunity for photos. The great thing is that bride and groom prep areas were completely on the opposite sides of the building.

The party started with them the moment we got there. They had the perfect playlist of music while we were doing our bride prep. They did a first look which was awesome. We like to that because we are in better position to really see the reactions of the bride and groom. They had Posh DJs during the reception and they always tear the roof off.

As far as gear is concerned we did a bold move to shoot both Nikon d850 and Fuji X-T3. The Fuji X-T3 did such an amazing job during the reception which was one of my biggest concerns. The focus was fast and there as no struggling in low light at all. The next wedding will be shot in it’s entirety with the Fuji X-T3

Last but not least I also wanted to share a short slideshow we did for Mario and Michelle. I have to say we are quite please with the results.

Engagement Session In Hoboken, New Jersey

One of our models is getting hitched.  When Julian popped the question she decided to go with us to shoot her beautiful wedding.  Being that all our wedding packages has a free engagement session, she immediately took advantage.  The family is heavily in to sports so they decided for a soccer themed engagement session.

The main thing they wanted was a Save the Date shot to send out.  They got really cool matching jerseys and the rest was up to me.  Usually there are a ton of people at a park like this, so we did the best we could not to have extras.

Once they got the Save the Date nailed we took a few more shots around Frank Sinatra Park.

Family Looks Like Legos in Botched Family Photo Shoot

I've never written a blog post like this, but this is a perfect example of why you should leave the photography to professionals.  A photographer was hired to take photos of a family at a park.  It happened to be a bright and sunny day.  What could go wrong?  Apparently a lot.  The photographer did not know how to position the family in harsh light.  She also didn't use any type of diffuser or professional strobe.  And last but not least, she did not know how to properly edit the photos when all else failed. She decided to fake the faces and make them look like legos.  She actually delivered this to the family.

There is a lot to be learned by this.  If I were the photographer I would have said that I am new and I'd do this completely free.  This way, if my work was this bad, we could have simply rescheduled until I got it right.  The blame is also to the family who decided that they wanted to save a buck and go to the cheapest photographer they can find.  You get what you pay for is the catchphrase of the day.

At Delensmode, something like this will never happen.  We know how to make our photos exposed correctly in this situation.  Additionally, we carry professional light gear that can over power the sun in most cases.  Not to mention, all you have to do is make use of good shade in these situations.

In my examples below you see various examples of outdoor shoots where the sun is bright.  You can tell the light is consistent throughout.  This is when we bring out our professional lighting gear.  As a professional photographer you know your camera gear inside and out.  The most expensive camera gear does have it's limitations, and that's when you bring out professional lighting gear.

Our post is not to put blame to the family or the photographer as this ended in laughs for the family.  However, it's to show value in what we do.  Photography is like any other profession.  It requires constant training of the craft and new gear. Luckily for us, it's our passion.  We love what we do.  When we say the biggest stressful day of your life (your wedding day) is our comfort zone. We mean it.  We thrive in pressure.

Engagement Session at Skyland Manor in Ringwood

We had a very successful engagement session today at Skyland Manor in Ringwood, New Jersey.  Quiana and Daniel really put up with such an immense cold and glad to say it did not show in the images.  We did the usual tour around the property and made use of the foliage.  I used both natural light and studio strobe.  I try for all my shoots to have as many options as possible for their images.  I'm very honored to be their wedding photographer.

Engagement Session at Happy Day Farm in Manalapan Township, New Jersey

It's fall with 90 degree weather today.  Our mission is an engagement session at Happy Day Farm in Manalapan Township, New Jersey.  With no cloud in site and no shade I thought today was not going to be our best shoot ever.  I brought an assistant to do our professional lighting and combat the harsh sun.  For us, our engagment shoots are how we connect with clients and build a great relationship.  What we do is much more than photography.  I hope you enjoy today's images.

Magical Wedding at Dyker Beach Golf Course

Magical Wedding at Dyker Beach Golf Course

This beautiful wedding day began at Christ Church in Brooklyn.  After the ceremony we rushed to Brooklyn Bridge Park.  I've met the couple there 2 weeks prior to scout locations.  Once we got Brooklyn Bridge Park our first location was the pebbled beach area.  While it was very crowded, we managed to get an angle where only one boy was in my shot and I had to photoshop him out.

After the pebbled beach area we went towards the 2nd nook I found.  This one was not part of the planned shooting spots at the park but I thought I could get a great shot.

One of the biggest signatures to my shooting style is if I'm shooting a subject, it's all about them.  I'm not concerned how populated an area is, I will make it about them and only them.  Now moving on to the next location, the couple really wanted a specific area at the park.

After this location we went to one last stop before we rushed to the reception.  There were literally dozens of folks here snapping pictures of us.  I usually have my lovely assistant to help me with the professional lighting and that makes us look like a big production set.

The next series of images is after the reception.  Dyker Beach Golf Course was very kind in giving an extra golf cart to take the the newlyweds to the best shooting locations in the golf course. It was us in the 2 carts plus a third tour guy and we looked like a 3 car convoy all over the course.  It was a great experience for all of us.

Our studio is always trying to be innovative when it comes to your wedding.  Some DJs take snap shots on your wedding and throw plain old slideshows during your wedding.  Here is an example of a same day slide show we do here at DelensMode Photography.  We actually edit and retouch images and make this beautiful slide show that has blown dozens of bride and grooms away.  This is included in all wedding packages.  Our mission is to give you that $10,000 wedding at a budget price.

Head Shot Season

The temperature is dropping and wedding season has come to an end.  Portrait season is among us.  We run many promotions and sometimes we include a hairstylist and a make up artist that we love.  Last week's promotion was all about the corporate headshot.  This is perfect for LinkedIn

Bridal Shoot with Rayssa

I often work with this beautiful model for all sorts of concepts.  Today we worked with a local bridal boutique to try on this dress.  I had an amazing team  of hairstylists, make up artists, and a wonderful assistant.  I will later introduce these folks in a later blog post.
